Sara’s project attempted to update traditionally carved statues of holy martyrs and patron saints to bring them closer to contemporary secularized society. She then adopted values or ideas from the legends of the saints that speak to us, even though they are divorced from the church framework. Each of the objects has a symbolic function.

Interaction with the objects conveys enduring values, such as generosity, and eternally resonant realities, such as the impermanence of life and the inevitable imperfection of the individual. Objects, through their symbolic function, confront man with these simple yet difficult concepts and, as a result, can relieve a person of his sorrows, just as statues of saints did in the past.

This object confronts a person with the impermanence and uncapturability of now by throwing a coin and its subsequent golden flash in the prepared hole.

The project was carved and goldened throughout the spring of 2022 at AAAD, Prague.
